9th Annual Webby Awards Announced Winners Today - 05.03.05
Winners to be Honored at Gala NYC Event - 06.06.05


The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences today unveiled the winners for The 9th Annual Webby Awards and People's Voice Awards. A full list of winners, and the teams behind them, can be found at www.webbyawards.com.

Also announced were the first-ever recipients of The Webby Special Achievement Awards. In recognition of the pivotal role he has played in the development of the Internet over the past three decades, The Webby Awards will present former Vice President Al Gore with The Webby Lifetime Achievement Award. The award will be presented by Vint Cerf, widely credited as a founder of the Internet. Other Special Achievement winners include Craig Newmark, founder of craigslist, and the Kleptones, online music pioneers.

All Winners will be honored at a gala event in New York City's Gotham Hall on June 6th hosted by comedian Rob Corddry, correspondent on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart." The event will bring together luminaries from the fields of media, advertising, business, technology, entertainment, politics, and the arts and will showcase the Webbys' famous five-word acceptance speeches and other surprises that are a trademark of The Webby Awards.
