Iran and nukes

Of course.

Iran is planning to mount a staunch defense of its nuclear energy program at an international conference beginning today and will insist on rights to the same technology afforded to all members of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), a senior Iranian official said in an interview yesterday.

Obvious question: Why WOULDN'T these nations pursue nukes? What is the downside of their doing so?

Bush has made it clear that NOT having WMDs is the surest way to get attacked.

NK and Iran don't want to wind up like Iraq. Bush's bellicosity has made nuclear proliferation seem like a NECESSITY to other nations.
