U.S. Ally fires on its people

Once again, one of our allies turns on its own people.

Repressive Uzbek President Islam Karimov, a U.S. ally, blamed Islamic extremists for a revolt that he says forced his troops to open fire on protesters. Witnesses said 200 to 300 people were shot dead. The White House urged restraint by both sides.

I hate to say it, but it's obvious that our alliances have everything to do with money and power, and nothing to do with decency and principle.
