U.S. military panels reviewing the detention of foreigners as enemy combatants are allowed to use evidence gained by torture in deciding whether to keep them imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the government conceded in court Thursday.
Not only is the torturing of prisoners totally immoral by every ethical standard known to man - it doesn't work. You can't believe what someone tells you under torture. They'll tell you anything you want to hear just to make you stop. You wind up getting false information.
But now that I think of it, Bush seems to spend his whole presidency demanding that he only hear what he wants to hear. That may explain why his followers are enamored of torture as a method of gathering information.
