Are we finally leaving?

Deal calls for troop pullback in Iraq
US says pact still needs final approvals

BAGHDAD - Iraqi and US negotiators have completed a draft security agreement that would see American troops leave Iraqi cities as soon as June 30, Iraqi and American officials said yesterday.

After leaving the cities, the US troops would initially be sent to bases in other parts of the country to make them less visible but still available to assist Iraqi forces as needed.

As far as I can tell, the Bush administration and the United States Government is now agreeing with Barack Obama as to what should be done in Iraq.

In addition, they are adopting the redeployment strategy that Congressman John Murtha called for years ago, for which he was attacked by the very people who are now adopting his strategy.

But the media will report this as vindication of the ideas George W. Bush and John McCain.
