"Let me tell you first what our plans are in terms of sequencing and political strategy. We will focus on Social Security immediately in this new year. Our strategy will probably include speeches early this month to establish an important premise: the current system is heading for an iceberg...That reality needs to be seared into the public consciousness; it is the pre-condition to authentic reform." "
For the first time in six decades, the Social Security battle is one we can win -- and in doing so, we can help transform the political and philosophical landscape of the country."
Read that again: "For the first time in six decades, the Social Security battle is one we can win."
Well, what have they been trying to do for six decades? Save Social Security? Of course not.
This is an admission that they are NOT trying to save Social Security, but destroy it.
And it is also an admission that the timing of this thing has NOTHING to do with an actual danger the system is in - that's just how they intend to advertise it. It has to do with the fact that now, for the first time, they think they CAN.
