Republicans block Senate plan to boost economy
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Senate Republicans on Wednesday narrowly blocked a Democratic-backed economic stimulus plan valued at about $157 billion that would have provided benefits for the long-term unemployed and expanded proposed tax rebates to include retirees and disabled veterans.
With the awareness that it looks like their days are numbered, the Republicans have stopped even pretending to represent anyone but the rich. They've ceased even paying their usual lip-service to lower- and working- classes.
In their angusih, they're pulling the mask off and showing everyone the horrible face underneath.
