Yesterday, President Bush claimed that Iraqi security forces “primarily led” the assault on the city of Tal Afar. Bush highlighted it as an “especially clear” sign of the progress Iraq security forces were making in Iraq.
The progress of the Iraqi forces is especially clear when the recent anti-terrorist operations in Tal Afar are compared with last year’s assault in Fallujah. In Fallujah, the assault was led by nine coalition battalions made up primarily of United States Marines and Army — with six Iraqi battalions supporting them…This year in Tal Afar, it was a very different story. The assault was primarily led by Iraqi security forces — 11 Iraqi battalions, backed by five coalition battalions providing support.
TIME Magazine reporter Michael Ware, who is embedded with the U.S. troops in Iraq who participated in the Tal Afar battle, appeared on Anderson Cooper yesterday. He said Bush’s description was completely untrue:I was in that battle from the very beginning to the very end. I was with Iraqi units right there on the front line as they were battling with al Qaeda. They were not leading. They were being led by the U.S. green beret special forces with them.

President Bush is a good President in many ways whose accomplishments will be overshadowed by the disaster of the Iraq war.
Dude - I can hardly think of a thing he's done right, nor a single accomplishment, nor a single way in which America has improved while he has been President.
I think Bush has accomplished a lot -
He's raised the national debt to unprecedented levels.
He's made America the laughingstock of the world.
He's made Ronald Reagan look competent in comparison.
He's turned our election process into something a third-world country would be ashamed of.
He's given us a walking, talking definition of the word "megalomania".
He's brought about the suffering, and in some cases death, of a bunch of lower-income hurricane victims.
He's killed off a lot of America's undesirable minority youth by first destroying the economy so that the only job they could get was to join the military, and then sending them off to fight and die for oil (and his ego).
He's made torture a viable option.
He's destroyed a lot of our basic civil rights, e.g., our right to privacy.
He's brought god back into the classrooms and government back into our bedrooms, where he believes they belong.
I could go on, but I'll leave some for others...
