Well, what do they actually make?
This is from a 2006 article:
"The average Ford worker makes $50,000 a year without overtime. "
Well, gee, THAT'S certainly living high off the hog. I can't IMAGINE why a guy with a family making 50 grand a year isn't willing to take a pay cut - when his CEO makes 28 million in four months.
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Struggling Ford Motor Co., which posted a record $12.7 billion net loss in 2006, gave its new CEO Alan Mulally $28 million for four months on the job, according to the company's proxy statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission Thursday.
But remember everybody - the guy making 50 grand? It's HIS fault. The Republicans say so.

I have an interesting spin on that, that will probably get me hate mail, but....
About six months ago, I started working for an enormous corporation (bigger than any auto manufacturer), that is unionized, and although it's a different industry, it's similar to Ford in how it's run. And what I've discovered is that most of the employees - the average, worker bee employees, like administrative people and field technicians - are extremely overpaid. Most of them are dumber than stumps, and could never hold a job in the real world. There are people being paid outrageous sums of money, who are given titles like senior administrative assistant, who don't have the skills to do what would be expected from a fresh high school grad in the real world.
This may very well be what's wrong with a lot of corporations - they have to pay 20 people to do a job one person should do, because these people aren't smart enough to do anything except one tiny piece of something. They can put bolt A into slot A, but don't ask them to turn the bolt...
I'm all for fair wages, but seriously, most of these people couldn't hold a job at a fast food restaurant, yet they're making $60K or more. And this is in Houston, where the average administrative assistant makes about $25K.
